The project’s scientific interest

When the plant is commissioned, the Biovalsan pilot project will study the performance of the biogas purification unit based on innovative cryogenic technology, which enables efficient production of high-quality biomethane and full use of biogas components.

For the scientific community, Biovalsan is an excellent industrial-scale platform for experimentation and study of physicochemical phenomena involved in the biogas purification process.

This industrial-scale project will serve to validate theoretical models and compare 'field' data to laboratory analyses.

The main objective is to characterise, by the end of the process, physicochemical and microbiological properties of the primary biogas and particularly of biomethane (bio-CH4) and biogenic CO2 (bio-CO2).

The studies performed throughout the project will be compiled into a reference health survey to be submitted to the Scientific Committee.
